Sacha Lichine (son of the late Alexis Lichine, one of the 20th century's most influential figures in French wine) purchased Château D'Esclans, in the village of La Motte-en-Provence (just a few miles north in the hills above Saint-Tropez) in 2005.
Working together with Patrick Léon (former winemaker for Château Mouton-Rothschild, Opus One, and Viña Almaviva), they have created 4 unique 100% estate grown and bottled rosés from this property using very old vine Grenache (60-80 yrs. old) and Burgundian winemaking techniques.
The Château D'Esclans "Garrus" Côtes de Provence rosé (3 barrels produced) is considered today as the most exclusive rosé in the world.
