Baya Mebarek is a Doctor in psychology and a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. She specializes in couples therapy, pre-marital therapy, and in the treatment of children, adolescents, adults, couples and families dealing with depression and anxiety. She has an extensive training in clinical hypnosis, with an emphasis on the treatment of depression. She is trained in grief therapy and is a certified alcohol and drug abuse counselor.

Additionally, Dr Baya Mebarek is an Adjunct Professor at Alliant International University (AIU) in both Master’s and Doctoral Marriage and Family Therapy programs and Doctoral Clinical Psychology program where she has been teaching couple therapy, family system theory, chemical dependency and family, biological aspects of behavior and psychopharmacology, and qualitative research. This position allows her to be up to date on the latest research regarding the effectiveness of mental health treatments and strategies.

Her personal Doctoral research focused on the effect of chronic illness on couple’s relationships and the family dynamic. She worked on formulating positive methods for protecting the family and promoting a healthy approach to handling such illness in the family setting.

She is fluent in English and in French and conduct sessions in either language. As a speaker she has the opportunity to interact in front of large crowds in both the public and academic setting educating on effective strategies to decrease the impact of depression and anxiety on families and businesses and our society.
